Buffalo Spirit

For months I looked for something,
But what was it I should see,
My heart was heavy with the wonder,
Yet, I didn't know what I should see.

I searched for what seemed to be an eternity,
Not finding the things I needed to see,
Although I sew many things,
It just wasn't out there for me.

Then one day I happen upon this beautiful sight,
It's huge with such a wise look in its eyes,
And I knew just what I had been searching for,
It was the first sighting of this creator.

I stood in awe, as it looked back at me,
With a snort it walked towards me,
And my buffalo stop a long distance away,
This was the Sighting of My Buffalo.

He stood there huge and proud,
And I sew the beauty in him as though he were a child,
A buffalo that made me feel so small,
My awe just wouldn't let me look away.

So I stood with wonderment and awe,
My heart pounding in my ears,
Yet, I could not move, just look upon him,
And I thought, I shell never forget this day.

The actual sighting of my buffalo happened on June 1, 2001, but I didn't get to work on writing this poem right away. For I have so much to do and not enough time to do it in. With the sighting began a quest for learning and understanding that I hope to never stop. So far, the experience has been a wondrous one and I have learned many things.
