Criteria for Membership

Basic Criteria - These items are the disqualifying factors. Be sure that you are honest with yourself and IAGA before applying for membership. These are mandatory for all awards program unless otherwise stated at the end of each rule.

You should be at least 16 years of age or older to apply for membership.

bullet

Your criteria's should be well written and explained.

bullet

Your awards program should an English version on site. No translation services will be accepted.

bullet

Your awards program or main website should not contain any illegal activities mentioned in the criteria's below.

bullet

Your awards program or main website should not contain Under Construction signs or messages.

bullet

If we see obvious changes during the evaluation period. This indicates that your website is under construction and is not ready for evaluation.

bullet

Your website and awards program should follow your own criteria and be able to win your own highest award.

bullet

You should give credit where credit is due for all non-original information, graphics, images, or materials.

bullet

Your awards program and main website should be capable of being viewed in an English translation.

bullet

Your navigation should be easy to follow and/or understand.

bullet

Your navigation should be so that visitors can get to all pages on your awards program and main website, including a site map.

bullet

Your awards program should have a link to your main website.

bullet

All links and images should be working properly.

bullet

Your awards program should be well presented and easy to understand.

bullet

Your awards program should have a copyright and privacy statement.

bullet

Your awards program should offer more than just awards, such as information to help webmasters. (Not Required, but this would be a nice addition to your awards program.)

bullet

If your awards program has music, there should be a way to turn it off.

bullet

You should not apply for membership if your run a group website of any type.

bullet

You should not apply for membership if you participate in any Competitions or Competition websites.

bullet

You should not have Forums or Blogs of any type on your awards program or main website.

bullet

You should have a site map which lists and links to all pages on your website.

bullet

Your awards program should contain an evaluators page where you tell something about each evaluator.

bullet

You agree to upload the IAGA Logo for the level of membership to your memberships page and link it back to Independent Awards Givers Association within 7 days of receiving your notification of membership.

bullet

Your awards program and main website should not have a scroll bar at the bottom in 1024 x 786 resolutions.

bullet

You should not ask applicants to sign your GuestBook as a part of the requirements for winning your awards.

bullet

Your awards program should not limit your awards to only pages like your own.

bullet

Your awards program or main website should not change the cursor by using a cursor changing services of any type. If the cursor is change, it must be done with java script.

 

Level Membership (M) - For those who wish to have their awards program listed, but do not wish to be rated. These are mandatory for all awards programs unless otherwise stated at the end of each rule.

There should be at least a basic criteria by which the applicant may follow.

bullet

The awards program should have an application form or a way to apply by email, and there should be instructions for the email applying method and the information for the email application to be copied into the email.

There should be an awards winners listing somewhere within the awards program.

bullet

Your awards program and main website should not have any copyright infringements.

bullet

Your award images should be original. (Not Required, but this would be a nice addition to your awards program.)

bullet

Your awards program should have an email address on every page by which a viewer may contact you with questions.

 

Level 1 - A starting point for most who are just getting started at award giving. These are mandatory for all awards programs unless otherwise stated at the end of each rule.

You should have a purpose or mission statement, but it is not required for this level.

bullet

Your awards program needs to have at least some type of criteria by which your applicants can go by when applying for your awards.

bullet

Must have an alternative email address along with your application form on your site. With this level, we will accept just an email link for applying for your awards, provided you have text that the applicant may copy/paste to their email. The application must have at least name, email, URL and the title of the website as requirements on it.

Application through your guestbook is acceptable for this level, must not be a requirement to be eligible.

bullet

You must list your winners with at least link to their websites.

bullet

There should be any obvious copyright infringements on any part of your website.

You must be the web master or web mistress of the site.

You must have a link to and from your awards program to your main web site and vs. visa.

bullet

We ask that your own website meets the requirements of your awards program, but is not required for this level.

NO more than 4 broken images.

NO more than 4 broken links and awarded site links must open in a new window.

You should have NO visual password protected pages, but we will accept them if there is reason for them such as an evaluators section that should not be seen by the public for obvious reasons.

You should have a privacy statement, copyright statement, code of ethics and/or a creed statement, but is not a requirement for this level.

You should have a page telling something about the evaluator and/or other evaluators, but is not a requirement for this level.

You should have an applicants status page on which your applicants can keep track of their progress, but is not a requirement for this level.

The award or awards you offer must be displayed on a separate page, giving a clear description of each.

You should not have a scroll bar at the bottom when viewing in any browser no matter what resolution is use, but is not a requirement for this level.

You must be the web master or web mistress of the site and awards program.

 

Level 2 - The next level up from level 1 which signifies a higher standard of award giving by the award master. These are mandatory for all awards programs unless otherwise stated at the end of each rule.

Your must have an explained purpose for your awards program.

bullet

Your awards program needs to have set criteria by which your applicants can go by when applying for your awards.

bullet

Must have an alternative email address along with your application form on your site. With this level, we will accept just an email link for applying for your awards, provided you have text that the applicant may copy/paste to their email. The application must have at least name, email, URL and the title of the website as requirements on it.

You must state the month and year your program came into existence.

bullet

Your must have an application for your prospective applicants, NO guestbook signing will be allow for this level.

You must have a link to and from your awards program to your main web site and vs. visa.

You must display your qualifications for evaluating websites.
