Digby's last picture - age 17

Born: 10/25/1988
Died: 9/25/2005

It is with great sadness that I let go of a little dog that was such a joy to have in my home.  He brightened each day with happy bounces of joy to see me each morning.  With bright eyes that always seemed more than eager to please the people he loved.  It is with great sadness that I lose this little bundle of joy, for he was a part of this little family of misfits.

When I actually stop to figure out his age, he lived a long and happy life.  For Digby was 17 years old and happy right up to the very minute that he passed on.  Though he was sick and in pain, those eyes still looked up to my husband and myself with a bit of a shine to them just knowing we were there for him.

Digby the Dog, a wonderful little guy to have around.  He was not just any little dog, he was not just an animal, and he was part of this family and will always be even in death.

He had his special little ways of letting us know he loved us.  Those are the times I will remember.  The cute little things he would do, the brightness he brought to our home, and all the good times that made every minute with Digby worth wild.

Like most little creatures whom we take in and love, that love was always returned to us ten fold.  He put his little heart into everything he did with a gladness that only Digby could show.  He put life into most everything for us, and that is what we will remember most about our little darling.

Though our pain of losing him is indeed hard to take at present, we are able to see just how much a part of our lives he was.  We don't believe in a rainbows bridge as some people do, but we do believe that one day we will join him and his mother to be together again.  As with Digby's mother, we look forward to our spirits joining once again when the time comes.

Digby was a extra good little dog.  As he never made a mess in the house or did things that we've seen some dogs do.  He was a very fussy little guy about being clear, and loved it whenever we rewarded him for anything done right.  At the end of each day, he had his ways of saying good night, and would greet us in the morning with a bounce only Digby could do.  Special in every sense of the word, right to the very end.

Digby will be missed for the rest of our lives, that is without any doubt in our minds.  And just as his mother, he will be remembered as one of the best little dogs anyone could ever ask for.  When all is remembered in such a time of sadness that was so good about little Digby, we send him on his way to a better place with love and respect.  May he rest in peace, knowing that the people he was with loved him dearly every minute he was alive and beyond.

Digby, we love you our little darling, and will meet you again when it is time.  Rest our little beloved puppy dog, knowing that we will never, ever forget the little stinker bum we called Digby.  You will always live inside our hearts and minds with fond memories and love.  In love and memories, the awards program named after you will remain open and hopefully have many winners in the future.  We still love you Digby, even though you are no longer with us.  Rest in peace, love and happiness until we meet once again.
